LOS ANGELES (AP) The Trump Art Gallery is moving forward with plans to open its Los Angeles exhibition space on Saturday, more than two years after the president was fired from his position.
The project will be the first of the Trump Museum of Art and Design in Los.
The gallery, located at the corner of Telegraph and La Brea Streets, has not yet been named.
It will include works by artist David Guralnick, as well as paintings by the late Michael Kugelman, who was a major influence on Trump’s early years in the White House.
The opening of the gallery, with a large sculpture by Guralnik, will be held during the president’s 90th birthday celebration on Feb. 26.
The president said he was fired over his handling of the Russia investigation in January, which led to the ouster of then-FBI Director James Comey, who had been overseeing the probe into Russian meddling in the 2016 election.
The move by the Trump Organization follows other moves by Trump and his family that have taken advantage of the White’s political capital.
In August, Trump opened a Trump International Hotel in Chicago with a $1.3 billion plan to redevelop the historic downtown Chicago’s McCormick Place, where the museum is now located.
Trump also has proposed a $2 billion golf course and a $3.5 billion convention center in suburban Las Vegas.
The White House has not responded to requests for comment.
The Trump Museum opened in January.
Its collection includes more than 1,400 works of art from the likes of Rembrandt, Matisse and Rembrandts, including works by Gralnick and Pablo Picasso.
