Posted November 03, 2018 12:06:00A new set of new liberal arts colleges will open this fall in the United States, starting with the flagship New York City institution, the New School.

The announcement comes as the nation grapples with the rise of the opioid epidemic, with the number of people dying from the disease soaring to a record high last year.

The announcement by New York State Education Commissioner Daniel Y. Puzder, a Republican, comes after the governor’s office declined to renew New York’s $10.2 billion contract with the school.

The contract expired last December.

New York State has the second-highest number of public colleges and universities in the country.

The number of students enrolled in the program increased by 4.2% last year to 9,868, according to the latest data from the National Center for Education Statistics.

The number of alumni increased by nearly 2,300 to 2,500.

About 1.7 million students attended the university last year, according the New York Times.

The program is designed to help students with academic needs, including reading, writing, math and science.

The New School has been an icon of New York since it opened in 1884, and the students’ work ethic has been a central focus of its alumni.

The school is known for its liberal arts education, which offers classes like drama and the arts, as well as courses like social work and music.

In a statement, Puzders office said the state has made “significant investments” to improve the quality of its education.

“We have an enormous opportunity to make a significant contribution to the future of this city and to the nation if we continue investing in the New American economy, creating a quality education for our students and providing the right opportunities for our graduates,” the statement said.

New School President Joseph S. Grewal told the Times the announcement was disappointing.

“I am disappointed that the governor and New York Gov.

Andrew Cuomo did not renew the contract,” Grewale said.

“The New York state government and I are deeply committed to the mission of New School, and it is important that New York is able to continue to be a leader in American education and that its students have a great experience at New York.”

New School is one of several schools in the nation to open in 2017 that have been hit by closures.
